With Gilmar, Temer is working to expedite impeachment.

Interim President Temer dined at the home of Supreme Court Justice and TSE President Gilmar Mendes on Monday night, along with senators, Agriculture Minister Blairo Maggi, and ranchers. According to parliamentarians who attended the meeting, Temer said he will speak with Senate President Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL) to try to change the final date for the impeachment vote, which was set by Supreme Court President Ricardo Lewandowski for August 29. Temer wants to bring the decision forward to the 24th or 25th. The negotiations also involve the Speaker of the House, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), to prevent Eduardo Cunha from being impeached before the impeachment process. Temer fears that, once impeached, Cunha will reveal what he knows and bring down his interim government.

247 – Interim President Michel Temer has been pulling strings to bring forward the final vote in the impeachment process, which could definitively remove President Dilma Rousseff from office.

The date for the final judgment is August 29th, set by the president of the Supreme Federal Court, Ricardo Lewandowski. Temer, however, wants the vote to take place on the 24th or at the latest the 25th.

The interim governor attended a dinner last night at the home of Supreme Court Justice and President of the Superior Electoral Court, Gilmar Mendes, in the company of senators, the Minister of Agriculture, Blairo Maggi, and rural producers.

According to parliamentarians who participated in the meeting, as reported by Agência O Globo, Temer said he will speak with the president of the Senate, Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL), to bring forward the vote.

The move also involves the Speaker of the House, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), with the goal of preventing the suspended congressman Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ) from being removed from office before impeachment. Temer fears that, once removed from office, Cunha will reveal what he knows and bring down his interim government.

For Cunha's removal from office, the plenary session still needs to read the decision of the Constitution and Justice Committee, which was against the appeal filed by the PMDB member requesting the annulment of the vote on his removal process in the Ethics Council. This reading was demanded yesterday by the leader of the Rede party, Alessandro Molon (RJ).

The gathering at Gilmar Mendes' residence was a barbecue celebrating the opening of markets for Brazilian beef, formalized this Monday. According to Globo, Gilmar confirmed the interim president's presence: "The dinner was organized for Minister Blairo, but the president decided to attend. I even arrived after him because I had a session at the TSE," he said.
