Ciro suggests 'kidnapping' Lula to an embassy in case of arbitrary arrest.
“I thought: if we form a group of lawyers, we can take Lula and hand him over to an embassy. In light of an arbitrary arrest, an act of private solidarity can go that far. Protecting a person from illegality is a right,” said former minister Ciro Gomes; according to him, the idea arose at the time when the former president was forcibly taken by the Federal Police to testify in São Paulo.
247 - Former minister Ciro Gomes even suggested "kidnapping" former president Lula to protect him from imprisonment "outside the rules of the democratic rule of law":
“I thought: if we form a group of lawyers, we can take Lula and hand him over to an embassy. In light of an arbitrary arrest, an act of private solidarity can go that far. Protecting a person from an illegality is a right,” Ciro said in an interview with Globo.
According to him, the idea arose at the time when the former president was forcibly taken by the Federal Police to testify in São Paulo.
"Today, I see no reason for Lula's imprisonment, although I am very angry with his moral laxity. The creation of this line of succession that exists today is his doing. Lula is the one who created this monster Eduardo Cunha," he declared.
