Brazil is seen as a major power by 21% of people worldwide, a study indicates.
Research reveals global perception of Brazil and highlights the transition to a multipolar world.
247 - A study released by the Munich Security Conference (MSC) and reported by Exame The survey revealed that 21% of people in 11 countries consider Brazil a major power. The research interviewed 11 people in G7 and BRICS nations, analyzing global perceptions of which countries exert significant influence on the international stage.
The perception of Brazil as a global power varies depending on the country surveyed. In India, 37% of respondents see Brazil as a relevant player, while in Brazil itself this figure is 34%. The report highlights that the world is undergoing a transition to a multipolar model, in which several nations have influence over essential global issues.
"Power is shifting toward a model in which many actors have the ability to influence key global issues. On the other hand, the world is experiencing increasing polarization between and within states," the study points out.
The United States leads the ranking, being recognized as a major power by 90% of respondents, followed by China (87%) and Russia (81%). Brazil occupies the 14th position, ahead of countries such as Turkey, South Africa, and Mexico.
Domestically, 94% of Brazilians consider the United States a superpower, followed by China (89%), Russia and Japan (80%). Brazil itself is seen as a superpower by 34% of the country's population.
The survey was conducted between November 14 and 29, 2024, with 1.000 respondents in each of the 11 countries, and has a margin of error of 3,1 percentage points.
