Act regarding the mensalão scandal causes confusion in the Chamber of Deputies.
Pushing and shoving and shouting; that was the scene in one of the House corridors after DEM deputies placed a huge poster about the mensalão scandal on the wall, next to the exhibition about the PT's 33 years; "2005 was the year the PT wanted to forget, but that Brazil will not allow to be swept under the rug," provoked Ronaldo Caiado (DEM-GO); to 247, the PT member says the party will take action.
247 – The corridor of the Chamber of Deputies, whose walls feature an exhibition commemorating the 33rd anniversary of the PT (Workers' Party), was taken over by a commotion on Wednesday afternoon. Members of the DEM (Democrats) party added a huge panel about 2005, titled "The Year of the Mensalão Scandal," to the PT's posters. The panel displays newspaper and magazine headlines about the scheme investigated by the Supreme Federal Court and images of former President Lula and defendants convicted in the case.
Ao 247A member of the Workers' Party (PT) stated that the party would take action, as in the House "it's not allowed to simply arrive and put a panel on the wall; there's a process for approving the display." "What childish behavior! This is disrespectful!" shouted Congressman Amaury Teixeira (PT-BA), before removing the opposition's panel from the location. "They even stole the Mensalão plaque," quipped Congressman Onyx Lorenzoni (DEM-RS).
The Democrats' panel was put on display by the party's leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Ronaldo Caiado (GO), who published photos of the event and an image of the panel on his Twitter profile. "I am pleased that the PT took the panel about the mensalão scandal to the PT leadership. Now they can reflect on what they did in 2005," he wrote. "2005 was the year the PT wanted to forget, but which Brazil will not allow to be swept under the rug," Caiado posted afterward.
