Vanessa Alves Mendonça is the sister of Andressa Alves Mendonça and held the position of Manager of Professional Development in Education, at the Secretariat of Education, in the second half of 2011. Cachoeira and Andressa are scheduled to get married in May.
Vanessa was appointed on October 23rd of last year. On April 18th of the same year, a wiretap by the Federal Police shows Carlinhos Cachoeira and the former president of the Goiânia City Council, Wladimir Garcez (PSDB), negotiating the appointment of several people to the government. Vanessa is listed as a candidate for a "management" position. Garcez is identified by the Federal Police as the right-hand man of the racketeer.
According to the government of Goiás, the sister of the gambling kingpin's wife was appointed by the current Secretary of Infrastructure, Wilder Morais, the ex-husband of Cachoeira's current partner. The press office also reported that the civil servant was dismissed on December 8, 2011, because the management position she held was undergoing a public selection process. Today, rumors surfaced that Wilder might be leaving the government. In a statement, the governor himself denied this.
The state government also announced an audit of all contracts and bids involving the Delta group, identified by the Federal Police as the company that financially supported the gambling scheme.
