Arthur Lira argues for "more democracy" to respond to terrorist acts.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives condemned the coup attempts of last Sunday.
247 - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), condemned on Monday (9) the terrorist acts that took place in Brasília on Sunday at the National Congress, the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and the Planalto Palace. According to him, nobody “feels represented by the acts”, reports the Metropolis.
“The desecration of the temple of democracy and the unacceptable vandalism that occurred yesterday in the Praça dos Três Poderes (Three Powers Square) are condemnable from every point of view and deserve a rigorous investigation. Punishments must come from the hands of the Justice system with a dosage that considers not only the damage to public property, but also the symbolism of a simultaneous attack on the palaces that represent the powers of our Republic,” he said.
"The people want respect for order, institutions, and public property. The greatest response we can give now is more democracy," he added.
