Aras requests investigation into pro-coup rally attended by Bolsonaro.
Brazil's Attorney General, Augusto Aras, has requested the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to open an investigation into the alleged involvement of federal deputies in organizing "criminal acts" that called for the closure of Congress and the STF.
247 - The Attorney General of the Republic, Augusto Aras, requested this Monday (20) the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to open an investigation with the objective of investigating the alleged participation of federal deputies in the organization of "criminal acts" that called for the closure of Congress and the STF. The investigation focuses on the mobilization where Jair Bolsonaro spoke this past Sunday (19), in Brasília (DF).
The occupant of the Planalto Palace, however, is not the target of the investigation. It is worth noting that Bolsonaro nominated Aras for the position of Attorney General, disregarding the three-person list from the Public Prosecutor's Office. The content of the investigation was published in... Bela Megale's column.
"The Brazilian State only recognizes one ideology, which is that of participatory democracy. Any attack on democracy violates the Constitution and the National Security Law," Aras stated.
