247 - After a reaction from members of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), President Jair Bolsonaro decided to revoke Decree 10.386, from last week, which allowed the Army to once again operate airplanes. Bolsonaro's reversal is published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) this Monday, the 8th. The same act restores the validity of Decree 93.206/1986, which gave the Army permission to operate only helicopters. reporter It's from the newspaper Estado de S.Paulo.

The decree had been met with criticism from the air force brigadiers regarding the "timing of the measure" during a period of economic crisis, when funds for Defense are scarce. They also argued that the decision could affect the joint operation of the two Armed Forces. "The problem is not the Army having its own aviation, but the timing of the decision, which is not opportune," stated Air Force Lieutenant-Brigadier Sérgio Xavier Ferolla, former president of the Superior Military Court (STM), to the newspaper.

The report adds that another critic of the decree was Lieutenant-Brigadier Nivaldo Rossato, former commander of the Brazilian Air Force, who sent a document to his fellow brigadiers in which he harshly criticizes the current management of the Ministry of Defense and the president's decision.
