247 - Senator Alvaro Dias (Podemos-PR), who will be a candidate for president of the Republic in 2018, was the first to ask the Chamber of Deputies to approve the new charges against Michel Temer, accused of obstruction of justice and of leading the PMDB's criminal organization.

"It's a devastating accusation that has legal force, especially given the evidence accumulated in various plea bargains. The Chamber of Deputies will certainly have enormous difficulty in considering this new accusation," he said.

"The image of the President of the Republic is very fragile. The latest accusations, the latest arrests, and the latest events have weakened the figure of the President of the Republic in the eyes of society and Congress. Preserving his mandate will cost the country dearly."

Dias also praised Rodrigo Janot's management at the head of the PGR (Attorney General's Office). "He was a kind of sheriff in the fight against corruption. He was perhaps the most sought-after public prosecutor in history. He played a leading role for a long time with complex investigations and enormous responsibility before notorious authorities in the country who had to be denounced by him. He leaves with applause and recognition from me, for the importance of the role he played in the Attorney General's Office."
