Alcolumbre says Congress will monitor coronavirus data from the states.

"It is the role of parliament to seek transparency at such a difficult time for everyone," said the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre.

247 - In light of the recent change in how the Ministry of Health updates the numbers on the spread of the coronavirus in Brazil, the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre, announced via Twitter that the National Congress will now be guided by the numbers collected by the state health departments.

"Following today's (8) meeting of leaders, it was decided that the Special Joint Committee for Monitoring the Coronavirus will work with the statistical data on the pandemic provided by the states and the Federal District. It is the role of parliament to seek transparency at such a difficult time for everyone," wrote Alcolumbre.

In yet another piece of evidence that the federal government is trying to manipulate the pandemic numbers, Jair Bolsonaro demanded that the number of deaths be kept below one thousand per day.
