The governor of Pernambuco (PE) and national president of the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB), Eduardo Campos, described the visits of the governor of São Paulo, Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB), and the mayor Gilberto Kassab (PSD) to the IX State Congress of the PSB, which is being held this Saturday at the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo, as a "political courtesy".

Campos' statement was a denial of the question about whether the visit of the two São Paulo governors to the PSB convention could be a move towards support or an alliance for the 2012 municipal elections. "This is a political courtesy between two friends, since the PSB currently participates in the governments of the City Hall and the State," said Campos.

According to the governor of Pernambuco, the issue of an alliance with PSDB or PSD was not discussed at the event, because that will be up to the new board, which is currently being elected. The debate will only gain momentum starting next year, Campos said.
