Aécio says he has a "sense" that Serra will be by his side in the 2014 elections.

“What I can foresee at this moment, to the frustration of our adversaries, is that we will be together building an innovative, transformative project for Brazil that will put an end to this cycle of the PT government that has done so much harm to Brazil and Brazilians,” said the senator from Minas Gerais, this Monday (16), in Belo Horizonte; “as far as I'm concerned, Serra will remain in the party,” he stressed.

247 - Senator Aécio Neves, likely PSDB candidate for president of the Republic in 2014, said, this Monday (16), that he “senses” that he will have former governor José Serra by his side in next year’s elections.

"What I can foresee at this moment, to the frustration of our adversaries, is that together we will be building an innovative, transformative project for Brazil that will put an end to this cycle of the PT government, which has done so much harm to Brazil and Brazilians," he told Folha.

In an interview with Folha columnist Mônica Bergamo, Aécio said he is "convinced" that Serra will not leave the party, despite rumors about the former governor's departure. When questioned about this today in Belo Horizonte, the senator again praised Serra and stated that it is good for the party that he is putting his name forward in the internal race for the presidential candidacy.

"As far as I'm concerned, and as far as the whole party is concerned, he [Serra] will remain with us. He has all the qualifications to put his name forward, it's legitimate for him to put his name forward, I would even say it's good for the party to have an alternative of José Serra's caliber and quality," he said.
