Iris Arajo (PMDB-GO), wife of former governor Iris Rezende, defeated by Marconi Perillo (right) in the 2010 election, attributes a series of nine threatening injunctions to her denunciations about dangerous links between the governor and the illegal gambling operator Carlinhos Cachoeira; the official letter requesting an investigation was delivered today to the president of the Chamber.

This Thursday, the 29th, congresswoman Íris Araújo (PMDB) filed an official letter with the presidency of the Chamber of Deputies requesting a formal investigation into death threats she received on Twitter on the 24th of this month. These threats came from the profile @antiboninhoantiglobo and included various insults. “I’m going to erase you,” promised one of the messages. The wife of former governor Íris Rezende, the congresswoman established a direct link between the threats received and her actions against the “wrongdoings” that, according to her, are practiced and encouraged by the administration of Governor Marconi Perilo (PSDB).
“These messages are a consequence of my work as a parliamentarian, notably related to the constant criticisms I make denouncing the wrongdoings committed by action or omission of the State Government,” she noted in a letter to Maia. “This firm stance of mine in favor of ethics and moral principles in politics has increased considerably following Operation Monte Carlos, launched by the Federal Police, which identified the involvement of government authorities and parliamentarians of the State of Goiás with the illegal activities carried out by the racketeer Carlos Augusto de Almeida Ramos, better known as Carlinhos Cachoeira.”
Íris Araújo wants the Federal Police to get involved in the case, identify the person responsible for the profile from which the threats originated, and prosecute them to the full extent of the law.
“Sordid, sexist, and affected, in the nine threats he made against me on Twitter, he wrote verbatim that he would kidnap me while simultaneously challenging the Public Prosecutor's Office to find him,” she declared from the floor of the Chamber of Deputies. “Especially in recent weeks, the country has witnessed the courageous positions I have taken from this podium, demanding a thorough investigation into the connection between politicians from my state, Goiás, and the gambling ring headed by the racketeer Carlinhos Cachoeira!” she continued. According to the congresswoman, the tweeter lives in Goiânia and “his real intentions may be masked under the cloak of hatred towards Globo, women, and taxes.”
