Agency Brazil - The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) trial of the Social Democracy Party's (PSD) request to increase its share in the distribution of financial resources from the Party Fund was suspended this Tuesday (24), after a request for review by Minister Antonio Dias Toffoli.

The rapporteur, Minister Marcelo Ribeiro, voted in favor of the new party's right to participate in the distribution of the 95% share among the parties that obtained votes in the 2012 election for the position of federal deputy. Minister Arnaldo Versiani voted for the PSD's right to an equal distribution of 5% of the Party Fund. Minister Marco Aurélio Mello sided with the rapporteur.

According to the legislation, all parties are entitled to a 5% share of the fund. The remaining 95% is distributed taking into account the votes received in the last elections for federal deputy. The PSD argues that it is entitled to a proportional share because it has one of the largest blocs in the Chamber.

Currently, the party has 52 parliamentarians who migrated from other parties, who together obtained more than four million votes in the 2010 elections. However, since the PSD was created in 2011, it is considered that they did not obtain votes in the election for the Federal Chamber and, therefore, would only be entitled to an equal division of 5% of the Party Fund, which results in a monthly transfer of approximately R$ 42 for each party.
