Did you know that sugar-free coffee is surpassing the consumption of coffee with sugar by Brazilians?

The survey was conducted in February 2025 with respondents from all age groups (over 18 years old), regions, and social classes.

Despite the memes, it seems that Brazilians are rapidly consuming more and more coffee without sugar. as well as other healthier trends: such as consuming higher quality grains and sweeteners.

A recent research conducted by the University of Coffee Through the Opinion Box institute, it confirmed the trends indicated by the Brazilian Coffee Industry Association (ABIC) in 2021, which already showed a total of 34% of coffee consumption without sugar.

In fact, the two responses are tied, within the margin of error, which is surprising given the speed at which Brazilian behavior has changed in this regard.

Another highlight was the sweetener stevia, considered a higher quality sweetener that is being used more than any other sweetener or sugar.

This is yet another indication of consumers seeking healthier ways to consume coffee.

Another striking finding was that the vast majority of those who consume coffee with sugar intend to reduce or eliminate it entirely from their drink.

The classic filtered coffee remains the most common way to enjoy coffee on a daily basis. However, the use of coffee makers and consumption in coffee shops have also become prominent.

In particular, the espresso coffee makers, which are already used daily by 24,6% of coffee consumers.

And finally, a provocative question asking respondents if they consider themselves addicted to coffee. To this, 68% answered "no" and 31% answered "yes".
