Thus, the AidaPrima was born. The construction of a super ship in timelapse.

Learn how a cruise ship costing 600 million euros (approximately 2,4 billion reais) is built. A fascinating adventure showcasing cutting-edge technology, presented step-by-step, like assembling a jigsaw puzzle.

Years of almost uninterrupted work, condensed into 8 minutes of video. This is the essence of this timelapse video that narrates the construction of the AidaPrima, a 124-ton cruise ship, 300 meters long and with the capacity to accommodate 3 passengers!

The ship was built, not without some problems (a fire and several minor accidents that delayed its construction), by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in the shipyards of Nagasaki for the German company AIDA Cruises. The ship – registered in Genoa – was christened on May 16th in the port of Hamburg, Germany.

In the video, produced by an agency specializing in timelapse productions, some important moments can be observed, such as the positioning of the engines (at minute 1:03) and propellers (3:16), and the construction technique of modern ships: a kind of gigantic Lego set, in which the various parts of the ship are welded together in the shipyard itself.
