247 - Petrobras President Magda Chambriard reaffirmed this Thursday (23) the goal of 60% growth over the next 25 years, with the aim of maintaining the company's leading role in energy generation in Brazil. The executive detailed the projection during the CNT Forum for Debates, held in Brasília, which brought together authorities and businesspeople from the energy sector.

According to information published by Broadcast, the news agency of Grupo Estado, Chambriard highlighted that the state-owned company intends to significantly expand its operations in renewable energy sources, without losing ground in the supply of primary energy—the stage prior to conversion. Currently, Petrobras is responsible for approximately 31% of the energy consumed in the country.

“We want to continue to account for at least 31% of energy generation in 2050. And how will we achieve this? By adding increasingly renewable energy. We need to grow together with Brazil,” stated the president. According to her, to reach this goal, “Petrobras has to grow 60% in two and a half decades,” ensuring that at least 10% of national consumption comes from clean sources.

During the event, Chambriard also commented on the exploration of Block 59, located in deep waters off the coast of Amapá, on the Equatorial Margin. Environmental licensing is underway, and the expectation is to complete the drilling phase by March 2026. The president argued that oil production in the region should bring direct economic benefits to the North and Northeast of the country.

In her speech, Magda reinforced Petrobras' strategy of combining the strengthening of its renewable energy matrix with maintaining its strategic role in the Brazilian energy sector, reconciling sustainability and regional development.
