Xi Jinping calls for new actions to modernize China.

247 - Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), called on senior Party officials to assume new responsibilities and initiate new actions to promote Chinese modernization, Xinhua reports.

Xi made the comments after reading the annual work reports of senior Party officials recently submitted to the CPC Central Committee and the general secretary.

The cadres include members of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the State Council, and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, as well as secretaries of the major Party member groups of the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate.

Xi noted the arduous tasks of promoting reforms and development while maintaining stability, as 2025 is the final year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and also an important year to further deepen comprehensive reforms.

The General Secretary called for the implementation of the main policies and decisions of the CPC Central Committee and the achievement of the goals set out in the 14th Five-Year Plan with high quality, in order to lay a solid foundation for a good start to the next period of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).

Xi also called for responding to any challenges arising from evolving dynamics at home and abroad by accelerating the establishment of a new development pattern, further deepening comprehensive reform, expanding high-standard opening-up, and promoting sustained economic recovery and growth.

Xi also urged cadres to enhance research and studies, strictly adhere to the Party's central leadership's eight-point decision on improving conduct, and conscientiously fulfill their political responsibilities for the Party's self-governance.
