247 - Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday (15), on the eve of the 25th Ministerial Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). The information was released by Al Mayadeen broadcaster. The meeting signals a deepening of ties between Tehran and Beijing amid growing international tensions involving Iran, especially with the United States and Israel.
According to Araghchi, the main objective of the visit was to participate in the SCO ministerial summit, organized by China, while also seeking to reinforce Iran's role as a key player in the organization's internationalization process. "The SCO is gradually expanding its scope beyond the regional arena towards a broader global role," stated the Iranian foreign minister.
The meeting's agenda includes extensive discussions on economic, political, and security issues. Araghchi highlighted that the forum will continue developing cooperation strategies in key sectors such as energy, trade, and economic integration, linking these initiatives to the agendas of the international market.
