Xi and Putin sign agreement on strategic international issues.

The document also establishes that Moscow and Beijing will defend the preservation of Syria's territorial integrity, respect its sovereignty, and "promote a peaceful normalization process carried out by the Syrians themselves with the support of the UN and with the help of the Geneva and Astana (Kazakhstan) platforms, taking into account the results of the Syrian National Dialogue Congress."

Russia and China will "coordinate plans and concrete steps to ensure an effective recovery for Syria after the conflict," the statement said, according to Russia Today.

Likewise, both countries will do everything possible to preserve the Iranian nuclear agreement after the United States' withdrawal. "Regarding the disappointing unilateral withdrawal of the United States from the agreements set forth in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program, it was agreed to make every effort to preserve the JCPOA, taking into account the key importance of protecting the interests of economic and commercial cooperation of all countries with Iran against unilateral extraterritorial sanctions," the document emphasized.
