Washington will not benefit if the Ukrainian conflict drags on, says Bloomberg.

The prolonged crisis will highlight the problems of the US defense industrial base.

Sputnik - The prolongation of the conflict in Ukraine will cease to benefit the United States due to increased costs, columnist Hal Brands stated in his article for Bloomberg.

"US authorities believe that the US has already extracted all possible advantages from the Ukrainian crisis," he emphasized.

According to the article, as time goes on, the price of prolonging hostilities in Ukraine will only increase. In this context, Washington will never be able to give the necessary attention to other regions of the world while its ammunition dwindles.

The prolonged crisis will also expose problems in the U.S. defense industrial base, Brands pointed out. Furthermore, the worsening situation surrounding Taiwan will heighten the Biden administration's interest in ending military hostilities in Europe.

In the columnist's opinion, in order to continue counting on the support of Western countries, Ukraine must demonstrate its readiness for peace negotiations, since otherwise the US may be at a disadvantage.

After Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of military operations in Ukraine on February 24, the West imposed sanctions against Russia across multiple sectors and began supplying the Kiev regime with weapons and military equipment worth billions of dollars.

Moscow has repeatedly warned that military support for Kiev only prolongs the conflict, while transports carrying weapons become a legitimate target for Russian troops.
