247 - After a powerful earthquake struck the Kamchatka region in Russia's far east, the Klyuchevskoy volcano erupted. The information was released on Wednesday (30) by the regional branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, according to the state agency. RIA Novosti"At this moment, Klyuchevskoy is erupting," the official publication reported.

According to initial reports from geophysical authorities, incandescent lava was recorded erupting from the western slope of the volcano, accompanied by a visible glow in the sky above the crater and powerful explosions. The phenomenon occurred just days after warnings about increased seismic activity in the region.

Last week, rescue teams had already issued recommendations for tourists to avoid visiting Klyuchevskoy and other volcanoes in Kamchatka, given the intensification of signs of geological instability.

Located in the Ust-Kamchatsky district, Klyuchevskoy is the highest active volcano in Eurasia, at 4.850 meters above sea level. Its most recent eruption occurred in April of this year.
