We are experiencing the biggest refugee crisis since the Second World War.

69 million people worldwide left their homes and sought refuge in other countries in 2017, according to data from the UN Refugee Agency, in what is considered the largest refugee crisis since World War II; in Latin America, Brazil is the country with the largest number of refugees and asylum seekers (148.645 in 2017).

247 - Persecution, conflict, and widespread violence forced 69 million people worldwide to leave their homes and seek refuge in other countries in 2017, reports Carol Scorce in Carta Capital. The data comes from the UN Refugee Agency and indicates that more than half of this forced displacement (52%) involved minors. This is considered the largest refugee crisis since World War II.

In Latin America, Brazil has the highest number of refugees and asylum seekers (148.645 in 2017). There are 10.264 people with refugee status in the country, while the rest have obtained temporary residence permits, and just over 85 asylum applications are being reviewed by the Ministry of Justice.
