Lula's victory will show the world that it is possible to defeat big capital, says Corbyn.
According to the leading figure on the left wing of the Labour Party in England, Lula's victory strengthens those who fight for "peace, justice and solidarity" in the world.
247 - Jeremy Corbyn, the leading figure on the left wing of the Labour Party in England, defended the victory of former president Lula (PT) against Jair Bolsonaro (PL), during an event in defense of the freedom of Julian Assange, a journalist imprisoned in the United Kingdom and founder of Wikileaks who exposed numerous war crimes by the United States.
Corbyn's speech was given at the MST headquarters in São Paulo, after a meeting between leaders of the landless movement and the Progressive International, and was recorded by journalist Brian Mier.
The British Labour Party member showed solidarity with Latin American nationalist politicians attacked by coups d'état, such as Lula, Dilma Rousseff, and the former president of Bolivia, Evo Morales. Furthermore, according to him, Lula's victory is important to show "that it is possible to defeat the power of big capital and the mainstream media."
"We need Lula to win this Sunday so that the left around the world can understand that it is possible to defeat the power of big capital and the mainstream media that has done so much to defame Lula, Dilma, Evo, and so many other people in recent years," he commented.
In an internationalist tone, Corbyn pointed out that with the victory of former President Lula in Brazil, "all of us, around the world, who are fighting for peace, justice and solidarity, will be stronger."
