The celebrations took place in Ba Đình Square, in Hanoi, bringing together around 40 participants in a large military parade and various cultural activities spread throughout the capital.

According to a report by Telesur, the event featured a parade organized into 87 divisions, including ceremonial, military, police, civilian units, and specialized vehicles. The ceremony, conducted according to tradition, began with symbolic rituals, such as the lighting of torches and the raising of the flag, before the start of the military march.

A historic milestone in Asia

On September 2, 1945, leader Ho Chi Minh proclaimed Vietnam's independence, making the country the first Asian nation to achieve sovereignty after World War II, ending French and Japanese colonial rule. Since then, the date has become a symbol of Vietnamese resistance and self-determination.

This year's parade also reinforced the country's role on the international stage. Troops from China, Russia, Laos, and Cambodia participated in the ceremony. Moscow sent an honor guard from the Preobrazhensky Regiment, while Laos and Cambodia contributed 120 soldiers each. The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, was present as one of the leaders invited to attend the celebration.

A display of strength and modernity.

The military program was divided into stages, beginning with a salute from the air force, followed by a march of infantry units, militias, and police forces. Afterwards, military vehicles and state-of-the-art equipment paraded through Ba Đình Square, in a display that highlighted both the tradition and technological advancements of the Vietnamese People's Army.

The event concluded with a cultural presentation organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, bringing together art, music, and popular expressions. The streets of the capital were filled with flags and popular participation.

The celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution reaffirms Vietnam's historical legacy of resistance and independence, while also projecting its political and economic strength onto the global stage.
