"Comrades, friends, ladies and gentlemen,

Hello everyone! The year 2022 is approaching. I would like to send you all my best wishes for the new year from Beijing.

Looking back on this year of extraordinary significance, we are confronted with matters of remarkable importance in the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and China. At a historic turning point in the struggles for the goals of the “two centenaries,” we have begun a new journey to build a modern socialist country in all respects, and we are striding forward with our heads held high on the path to achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

From the beginning to the end of the year, in the fields, in businesses, in residential communities, in schools, in hospitals, in military camps, in scientific research institutes, and in other locations, everyone worked diligently and contributed, also achieving results. Over time, what we see and feel is a persistent and prosperous China, whose people are friendly and admirable, whose development is renewed every day, and whose cause is inherited by generations.

On July 1st, we solemnly celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. In the Tiananmen Hall, I was deeply moved as I recalled that, despite the upheavals along the historical path, the Chinese communists led the people to defy all risks and difficulties with unwavering perseverance and persistent spirit, to create the magnificent atmosphere of a great centennial Party. Only by remaining true to the initial aspiration can the mission be fulfilled. Only with all our efforts and convictions will we not disappoint the expectations of history, the era, and the people.

The third historic resolution of the CPC was adopted at the 6th plenary session of the 19th Central Committee. The results achieved in this centenary encourage and motivate us, and the centenary experiences inspire us. I remember the conversation between then-Chairman Mao Zedong and Comrade Huang Yanpei in a cave-house. Only self-renewal can help us achieve a historic initiative. The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is by no means a task that can be easily accomplished accompanied by drumbeats and gongs, and it is not achieved overnight or on a path without obstacles. We must always maintain a long-term vision, prepare for potential risks, maintain strategic focus and determination, as the saying goes: "achieve the broad and the great, while addressing the delicate and the meticulous well."

Our country, large as it is, has its list of priorities. After all, the various issues of the nation are those of ordinary families. I conducted research in various places and saw and heard many situations, gaining knowledge and inspiration. When visiting ordinary families, I always asked if they were going through difficulties, and I keep all the words of the people in my heart.

What concerns the people is what I always keep in mind, and the aspirations of the people are what I always dedicate myself to. I too have experienced life in rural areas and have a deep understanding of poverty. Through the efforts of generation after generation, people who were once poor now have sufficient food and clothing, as well as access to education, housing, and medical insurance. Building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and eliminating poverty are commitments already honored by our Party to the people, and also contributions to the world. To ensure everyone leads a better life, we cannot be satisfied with the results achieved and we still have a long way to go.

Maintaining the Yellow River's waters in a perpetually calm and appropriately utilized state has been the hope of the Chinese nation's children for thousands of years. In recent years, I have visited nine provinces and autonomous regions along the river's middle and lower reaches. From the Yellow and Yangtze rivers, which are the "mother rivers" of the Chinese people; to Qinghai Lake, where the waters ripple, and the Yarlung Zangbo River, with its majestic currents; from the centuries-old project of transferring water from the south to the north to the reforestation in the Saihanba community, like a green strip on the map; from the wild elephants of Yunnan that migrated north and returned south to the Tibetan antelopes that migrate and breed... All this teaches us that the environment does not disappoint those who protect it.

This year was filled with countless unforgettable Chinese voices, stories, and moments. The youth pledged, “The Party can count on me, and I will make China strong.” The moving declaration, “My pure love is reserved only for China,” was also issued. The Zhurong probe was launched to explore Mars, the Xihe satellite to explore the solar system, and the Tianhe module is flying in space. Athletes competed dynamically and diligently to achieve good results. The entire country worked diligently to prevent and control the novel coronavirus epidemic. Those who suffered from calamities helped each other rebuild their homes. Soldiers and officers of the People's Liberation Army and the Armed Police Force worked to strengthen the military and defend the country's security. Countless ordinary, yet heroic, people fought hard, converging in a majestic current that China follows to advance into the new era.

The motherland is always mindful of the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong and Macau. Only through mutual assistance and joint effort can the principle of "one country, two systems" be implemented with solid progress. The complete reunification of the motherland is the common desire of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. I sincerely hope that all the children of the Chinese nation can move forward hand in hand to build a better future for the nation.

In phone or video conference conversations with leaders of foreign countries or officials from international organizations, they repeatedly praised China's anti-pandemic efforts and contributions to global pandemic control and prevention. To date, China has provided 2 billion doses of vaccines to more than 120 countries and international organizations. Only by facing the storms and adversities together and collaborating unitedly will we write a new chapter in building a community of shared future for humanity.

In just over a month, the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games will begin. Giving more people access to ice and snow sports is the essence of the Olympic spirit. We will make every effort to deliver a wonderful edition of the Olympic Games for the world. The world has high expectations for China, and China is ready.

Soon, the New Year's bell will ring. Our three astronauts are on an official mission in the vast expanse of space, our compatriots abroad are working diligently, diplomatic staff, Chinese business employees, and Chinese students abroad remain courageously where they are, and countless people pursuing their dreams are striving and contributing. Thank you all for your efforts, and I would like to express my sincere New Year's greetings to you all.
