Iran's Fordow nuclear facility is attacked following a US offensive against Iranian facilities.
Underground facility suffered another bombing; local spokesperson denies risk to the population and agency attributes the action to Israel.
247 - Iran's Fordow nuclear plant was once again targeted in attacks, according to information released on Monday (23) by Iranian state media. The facility is located in Qom province, in the central region of the country. According to the province's spokesperson, quoted by the ISNA agency, there is no imminent risk to the local population. "There will be no danger or threat to citizens," he stated, in a declaration reproduced in full according to the CNN.
The bombing reportedly occurred two days after a US offensive against three of the Iranian regime's main nuclear facilities, including Fordow. According to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, Israel is responsible for this new attack on the facility located in a mountainous area, specifically built to withstand external attacks.
Fordow is considered one of the most strategic structures in the Iranian nuclear program because it is located inside a mountain, making it particularly difficult to destroy. Israel has confirmed that it is bombing new Iranian targets, including command centers. A prison unit was also reportedly hit.
