247 - The European Union has strongly criticized the Israeli government's plan to build new settlements in the so-called E1 area of the occupied West Bank, arguing that the move violates international law and threatens to undermine the two-state solution. This was reported by the agency. ReutersThe EU High Representative warned that implementing the project would create a territorial blockade between the northern and southern West Bank, isolating occupied East Jerusalem and jeopardizing any prospect of lasting peace in the region.

The European stance comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, with the expansion of Israeli military operations in Gaza and the deepening humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territory. The initiative in the E1 area, considered strategic, is one of the main obstacles to the formation of a contiguous and viable Palestinian state.

Meanwhile, Jewish organizations in the United States released an open letter condemning Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip. Entities such as J Street and New Israel Fund described the occupation as "morally indefensible" and warned of the serious consequences of the military strategy adopted. In the document, the associations state that the offensive "will endanger the remaining hostages, kill more Palestinian civilians, and accelerate Israel's global isolation."

International criticism is increasing diplomatic pressure on the Israeli government, which already faces questioning from multilateral organizations and part of the Jewish community abroad. Analysts believe that the combination of settlement expansion in the West Bank and the intensification of the offensive in Gaza could further isolate Israel politically and hinder any progress in peace negotiations.
