We, the undersigned, are Russians living and working in the USA. We have watched with growing anxiety as current US and NATO policies have placed us on an extremely dangerous collision course with the Russian Federation, as well as with China. Many respected Americans, patriots, such as Paul Craig Roberts, Stephen Cohen, Philip Giraldi, Ray McGovern, and many others have issued warnings of an impending Third World War. But their voices have been lost amidst the clamor of mass media filled with inaccurate and misleading stories depicting the Russian economy as crumbling and the Russian military as weak, all based on no evidence whatsoever. But we, aware of both Russian history and the current state of Russian society and military, cannot swallow such lies. We now feel it is our duty, as Russians living in the USA, to warn the American people that they are being deceived, and to tell them the truth. And the truth is simply this:

If there's going to be a war with Russia, then the United States will certainly...
They will be destroyed, and most of us will end up dead.

Let's take a step back and put what's happening in historical context. Russia has suffered greatly at the hands of foreign invaders, losing 22 million people in World War II. Most of the dead were civilians because the country was invaded, and the Russians vowed never to let such a disaster happen again. Every time Russia has been invaded, it has emerged victorious. In 1812, Napoleon invaded Russia; in 1814, Russian cavalry marched on Paris. On July 22, 1941, Hitler's Luftwaffe bombed Kiev; on May 8, 1945, Soviet troops entered Berlin.

But times have changed since then. If Hitler were to attack Russia today, he would be dead 20 to 30 minutes later, his bunker reduced to incandescent rubble by the attack of a Kalibr supersonic cruise missile launched from a small Russian navy ship somewhere in the Baltic Sea. The operational capabilities of the new Russian Armed Forces were convincingly demonstrated during the recent action against ISIS, Al Nusra, and other foreign-funded terrorist groups operating in Syria. For a long time, Russia had to respond to provocations by fighting ground battles on its own territory, and then launching a counter-offensive; but this is no longer necessary. Russia's new weapons make retaliation instantaneous, undetectable, invincible, and perfectly lethal.

Thus, if a war were to break out tomorrow between the US and Russia, it is undeniable that the US would be obliterated, destroyed. At the very least, there would be no more power grid, no internet, no oil or gas pipelines, no interstate highway system, no air transport or GPS-based navigation. Financial centers would be in ruins. The government, at all levels, would cease to function. The US armed forces, stationed around the globe, would cease to be resupplied. And in the worst case, the entire US land area would be covered by a layer of radioactive ash. We are telling you this, not to be alarmist, but because, based on everything we know, we ourselves are alarmed. If attacked, Russia will not back down; it will retaliate, and it will totally annihilate the United States.

The US leadership has done everything to bring the situation to the brink of disaster. First, its anti-Russian policies have convinced the Russian leadership that making concessions or negotiating with the West is futile. It has become evident that the West will always support any individual, movement, or government that is anti-Russian, be it tax-evading Russian oligarchs, convicted Ukrainian war criminals, Saudi-backed Wahhabi terrorists in Chechnya, or cathedral-desecrating punks in Moscow. Now that NATO, in violation of its previous commitments, has expanded to the Russian border, with US forces deployed in the Baltic States, placing St. Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city, within range of its artillery, the Russians have nowhere left to retreat. The Russians will not attack; but neither will they give up or surrender. The Russian leadership enjoys over 80% popular support; and the remaining 20% seem to feel that the country is being too lenient in its opposition to Western interference. But Russia will retaliate, and a provocation or a simple mistake could trigger a chain of events that will result in millions of Americans dead and the US in ruins.

Unlike many Americans, who see war as a thrilling and victorious overseas adventure, Russians hate and fear war. But they are also ready for it, and have been preparing for war for several years. And their preparations have been more effective. Unlike the US, which wastes countless billions on dubious, overpriced weapons programs like the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the Russians are extremely austere with their defense spending, achieving a return on investment 10 times greater than the bloated US defense industry. While it is true that the Russian economy has suffered from low energy prices, it is far from ruined, and a return to growth is expected as early as next year. Senator John McCain once called Russia "A gas station disguised as a country." Well, he lied. Yes, Russia is the world's largest oil producer and second-largest oil exporter, but it is also the world's largest exporter of grain and nuclear energy technology. It is a society as advanced and sophisticated as that of the United States. Russia's armed forces, both conventional and nuclear, are now ready to fight, and are more than capable of confronting the US and NATO, especially if war breaks out anywhere near the Russian border.

But such a fight would be suicidal for all sides. We strongly believe that a conventional war in Europe runs a great risk of becoming nuclear very quickly, and that any US/NATO nuclear attack on Russian forces or territory will automatically trigger a retaliatory Russian nuclear strike on the US continent. Contrary to the irresponsible statements made by some American propagandists, American anti-ballistic missile systems are incapable of protecting the American people from a Russian nuclear attack. Russia has the means to attack targets in the US with long-range nuclear weapons as well as conventional weaponry.

The only reason the US and Russia have found themselves on a collision course, instead of defusing tensions and cooperating on a wide range of international issues, is the stubborn refusal by the US leadership to accept Russia as an equal partner: Washington is absolutely determined to be the "world leader" and the "indispensable nation," even as its influence steadily diminishes in the wake of a series of military and foreign policy disasters, such as in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen, and Ukraine. The continuation of American global leadership is something neither Russia, nor China, nor most other countries are willing to accept. This gradual but evident loss of power and influence has caused the US leadership to become hysterical; and from hysteria to suicide is a very small step. America's political leaders need to be placed under "suicide watch."

First, we appeal to the commanders of the United States Armed Forces to follow the example of Admiral William Fallon, who, when asked about a war with Iran, reportedly replied, "Not under my command." We know you are not suicidal, and that you do not want to die because of unwarranted imperial arrogance. If possible, inform your staff, colleagues, and especially your civilian superiors that a war with Russia will not happen under your command. At least, carry this promise with yourselves, and if the day has already come when the suicidal order is issued, simply refuse to execute it, justifying it as a criminal act. Remember that, according to the Nuremberg Tribunal, "Initiating a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime, differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of them all." Since Nuremberg, "I was only following orders" is no longer a valid defense; please, do not be war criminals.

We also call upon the American people to take peaceful but forceful action and to oppose any politician or party that engages in irresponsible and harassing actions that provoke Russia, that endorses and supports a policy of unnecessary confrontation with a nuclear superpower capable of destroying the U.S. in about an hour. Speak out, break through the mass media propaganda barrier, and make your fellow Americans aware of the immense danger of a confrontation between Russia and the U.S.

There is no objective reason why the US and Russia should regard each other as adversaries. The current confrontation is entirely a result of the extremist views of the neoconservative movement, whose members have infiltrated the US federal government, and who consider any country that refuses to obey their orders as an enemy to be crushed. Thanks to their tireless efforts, more than a million innocent people have already died in the former Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Pakistan, Ukraine, Yemen, Somalia, and many other countries – all because of their maniacal insistence that the US must be a world empire, not just an ordinary, normal country, and that every national leader must either bow before it or be overthrown. In Russia, the irresistible force that is the neoconservative movement has definitively met its immovable target. They must be forced to retreat before they destroy us all.

We are absolutely and categorically certain that Russia will never attack the U.S., nor any EU member state, that Russia is in no way interested in recreating the USSR, and that there is no "Russian threat" or "Russian aggression." A good deal of Russia's recent economic success has to do with its detachment from former Soviet dependencies, allowing it to pursue a policy whose motto is "Russia first." But we are also just as certain that if Russia is attacked, or even threatened, it will not back down, and that the Russian leadership will not "blink." With great sorrow and a heavy heart, it will fulfill its solemn duty and unleash a nuclear barrage from which the United States will never recover. Even if the entire Russian leadership is killed in a first strike, the so-called "Dead Hand" (the "Perimeter" system) will automatically launch enough nuclear weapons to wipe the U.S. off the political map. We feel it is our duty to do everything we can to prevent such a catastrophe.
