Ukraine denies responsibility for attack on Kremlin.
According to President Zelensky, Kyiv is not dedicated to attacking Vladimir Putin or Moscow.
247 - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denied that his government was responsible for the attack on the Kremlin, where, in the early hours of Wednesday (2), a drone exploded over the complex that houses the official residence of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Moscow stated that Ukraine is behind the terrorist attack.
Zelensky denied this, saying, "We did not attack Putin or Moscow."
Putin was not in the Kremlin at the time of the attack. He was at his official residence in Novo-Ogaryovo, on the outskirts of Moscow, his spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the RIA Novosti news agency.
A video posted on a local Telegram news channel, filmed from across the Moskva River, which borders the Kremlin, shows smoke rising above one of the buildings in the complex. According to the text accompanying the footage, residents of a nearby apartment building reported hearing loud noises and seeing smoke around 2:30 a.m.
The Kremlin said Russian military and security forces intercepted the drones before they could strike. No one was injured, it added.
The attack drew responses from Russian politicians. Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of the lower house of parliament, said that lawmakers “will demand the use of weapons capable of stopping and destroying the terrorist regime in Kiev.”
Sergei Mironov, a senior lawmaker, called for "a real war" in retaliation in a Twitter post. (With information from AP and Bloomberg).
