Türkiye says countries supporting Guaidó are fueling the crisis.

247, with Reuters - Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Sunday (3) that countries that have recognized Venezuela’s self-proclaimed interim president, Juan Guaidó, are fueling that country’s problems and punishing millions of people.

Turkey has supported Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, in contrast to allies in the European Union, NATO, the United States and Canada, and several right-wing Latin American countries, which have recognized Guaidó's decision to declare himself interim president.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, who has strengthened economic and political ties with Caracas, called on Maduro last month to resist what he described as "anti-democratic developments."

Mevlut Cavusoglu said that the countries supporting Guaidó should have worked on negotiations to resolve the Venezuelan crisis.

"There is a problem in a country, there is a spark that can turn into a wildfire at any moment. In this case, they should have contributed to solving the problem through dialogue," he stated.
