Trump says he spoke with Putin about ending the war in Ukraine; Kremlin remains silent.

The US president said he requested meetings to end the conflict in Ukraine, stating that he has a "concrete plan" to resolve it.

However, the newspaper does not directly quote the US president on this matter.

According to the publication, Trump did not specify how many times he had spoken with the Russian president. "It's better not to say," Trump replied when asked how many times he had spoken with the Russian leader.

Previously, Trump stated that he still intended to speak with the Russian president.

Putin had already declared his willingness to calmly discuss with Trump all areas of interest to both countries. Trump said he wanted to meet with Putin "immediately." Trump himself had previously reported that the US was conducting "constructive" negotiations with Russia and Ukraine.

Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesman, said on Friday that the Kremlin would provide information on future contacts between Russia and the United States as soon as substantive information emerged.

WAR IN UKRAINE - Trump also told the newspaper in the interview that he had requested meetings to end the conflict in Ukraine, stating that he has a specific plan to resolve it, according to the report. 

"I hope it's quick. People are dying every day. This war in Ukraine is so bad. I want to end this damn thing," Trump said.

Trump stated that he has "a concrete plan" to end the conflict in Ukraine and emphasized that he has always had "a good relationship" with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During the interview, Trump addressed National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, who was accompanying him on the plane, and asked that they begin meetings to end the war.

"Let's start these meetings. They want to meet. People are dying every day," Trump said.

KREMLIN NEITHER CONFIRMS NOR DENIES - Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday (9) that he could neither confirm nor deny media reports claiming that the presidents of Russia and the US, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, had recently spoken by telephone about Ukraine.

"As the administration in Washington unfolds its work, many different communications are being made. These communications occur through different channels. Of course, given the volume of these communications, I personally may not know something, I may not be aware of something. Therefore, in this case, I can neither confirm nor deny," Peskov told the newspaper. Izvestia.
