Trump says he is not 'happy' with how China handled the coronavirus.
US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he is not "happy" with China, suggesting that the Asian country failed to properly warn the rest of the world about the new coronavirus.
247 - US President Donald Trump again accused China of not being transparent in disclosing information about the coronavirus. The statement, according to CNN, was made during a press conference.
Asked if China should lose the privilege of hosting the 2022 Olympic Games, the Republican dodged the question and mentioned the trade agreement signed between the Americans and the Chinese. "I want to see what's happening with China. Are they fulfilling the agreement?" he doubted. "Let me put it this way: I'm not happy, okay? I'm not happy."
According to CNN, Trump said he spoke with China and that the epidemic could have been contained long ago. "They knew this. And we didn't understand. To be fair, neither did the WHO [World Health Organization] understand," he added.
The US president also reiterated his criticism of the WHO, accusing the organization of not adequately reporting what was happening. It's worth remembering that this week Trump announced the suspension of US funding to the organization to "review" how it handled the pandemic.
