Trump is expected to create a new conflict and request $8,6 billion for a border wall.

The request, which will be formally released on Monday (11), would far exceed the US$5,7 billion that Trump demanded last year and which led to the 35-day shutdown of the US government, the longest ever; Democratic congressional leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer criticized the measure, warning Trump that it would lead to another legislative defeat.

Sputnik Brazil - US President Donald Trump plans to request an additional $8,6 billion in funding for a wall on the US-Mexico border. The request is expected to be included in the 2020 budget and is likely to generate another fight with the US Congress, White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow said on Sunday (10).

The request, which will be formally released on Monday (11), would far exceed the US$5,7 billion that Trump demanded last year and which led to the 35-day shutdown of the US government, the longest ever.

Democratic congressional leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer criticized the measure, warning Trump that it would lead to another legislative defeat.

Kudlow, interviewed on "Fox News Sunday," admitted that the new request would likely mean a new clash in Congress over funding for the wall. "I suppose there will be," he said.

However, Kudlow said that Trump "will keep his wall. He will keep his border security. I think it's essential."
