Trump calls White House meeting on post-war plan for Gaza.
Proposal faces resistance from Arab allies.
247 - The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that he will lead a meeting at the White House on Wednesday (27) to discuss a “comprehensive plan” for the administration of the Gaza Strip after the end of the war. The information was released by the US government’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, in an interview with Fox News, and echoed by Times of Israel.
According to Witkoff, this is the first time Washington has admitted to developing an official strategy for the so-called "day after" in Gaza. Until now, the White House had delegated the discussion to its Arab partners, after Trump declared in February that he supported the takeover of Gaza and the permanent relocation of its residents—a proposal that Israel welcomed but categorically rejected by Washington's Arab allies.
Military operations and internal pressure
While negotiations stall, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists on moving forward with an offensive on Gaza City, considered "the last stronghold of Hamas."
Witkoff signaled optimism: "We think we're going to resolve this one way or another, certainly before the end of this year."
Other diplomatic fronts and the Abraham Accords
The special envoy also revealed that the Trump administration intends to mediate, by the end of 2025, not only the Gaza issue, but also the conflicts between Russia and Ukraine and the nuclear negotiations with Iran.
Furthermore, Witkoff stated that Washington is "negotiating multiple entries" of new countries into the Abraham Accords, although he did not specify which ones.
