Trump cancels trip to Davos and blames Democrats.
US President Donald Trump has announced he will not attend the World Economic Forum, which will take place in Davos, Switzerland, from January 22-25; "Because of the Democrats' intransigence on border security and the paramount importance of security to our nation, I am respectfully cancelling my very important trip to Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum. Warm regards and apologies to the @WEF," he posted on Twitter.
Sputnik Brazil - US President Donald Trump has said he will not attend the World Economic Forum, which will take place in Davos, Switzerland, between January 22 and 25.
Trump attributed the decision to "the intransigence of the Democrats."
"Because of the Democrats' intransigence on border security and the paramount importance of security to our nation, I am respectfully cancelling my very important trip to Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum. My warmest regards and apologies to the @WEF," he posted on Twitter.
Trump was traveling to Texas to seek support for his demand for funds to build a wall along the southern border with Mexico.
Part of the US government has been paralyzed since the end of December, when Congress failed to reach an agreement on the budget allocated to the wall's construction.
Because of the Democrats intransigence on Border Security and the great importance of Safety for our Nation, I am respectfully canceling my very important trip to Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum. My warmest regards and apologies to the @WEF!
