Trump threatens to cancel ceasefire if Hamas does not release hostages by Saturday: "Give them back or let all hell break loose."
The US president argued that all prisoners should be released at once, not in small groups.
247 - US President Donald Trump said on Monday (10) that Hamas must release all hostages held in Gaza by noon on Saturday (15), or risk him proposing the cancellation of the ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian group. "If all the hostages are not released by noon on Saturday, I think that's the appropriate time to cancel the ceasefire and let hell begin," Trump declared during a meeting with journalists in the Oval Office, according to Reuters.
Trump expressed frustration with the conditions of the hostages recently released by Hamas and with the group's decision to suspend further releases. The US president argued that all captives should be released at once, not in small groups. "We want them all back," he emphasized.
Despite threatening to push for an end to the truce, Trump acknowledged that Israel could decide to act independently and stated that he might discuss the matter with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Pressure on Jordan and Egypt - Trump also stated that he could suspend US financial aid to Jordan and Egypt if those countries refuse to accept Palestinian refugees displaced from Gaza. The US president will meet with King Abdullah of Jordan on Tuesday (11) to discuss the issue.
