Trump says military action is 'certainly an option' against North Korea.

In a speech this Thursday (07), US President Donald Trump said that he does not prefer to follow this path, but 'military action is certainly an option' against North Korea; in a joint press conference with the Emir of Kuwait, Sabah al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Trump said he does not prefer an attack because it would be a sad day for North Korea, given the military power of the US.

Brazil Agency - US President Donald Trump reiterated on Thursday (7) that military action is "certainly an option" regarding North Korea, but assured that he prefers "not to pursue that path." The information is from the EFE news agency.

"The military option is certainly an option, it's something that could happen," Trump said at a joint press conference with the Emir of Kuwait, Sabah al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, regarding the escalating tensions with Pyongyang.

When asked if this path is "inevitable" given the continued provocations of Kim Jong-un's regime, which has conducted numerous missile launches and threatened American bases on the island of Guam in the Western Pacific, the American official replied that "nothing is inevitable."

Trump, however, indicated that he "would prefer not to go down that road," as it would be "a very sad day" for North Korea, given the military might of the United States.

Following last weekend's nuclear test, in which Kim Jong-un's regime claims to have detonated its most powerful atomic bomb to date, Trump said he is considering suspending trade with any country that does business with Pyongyang and hinted that he did not rule out an attack on North Korea.

For his part, Secretary of Defense James Mattis promised a "major military response" to "any threat" from North Korea to the country's territories, including Guam, or to its allies.
