Three earthquakes hit Guatemala, leaving one dead.

The largest tremor, measuring 5,8 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 12:34 PM, but shortly before and after, two other tremors, each measuring 4,8 on the Richter scale, were also felt.

Three earthquakes were felt across most of Guatemala in less than 90 minutes on Monday afternoon, killing at least one person.

The largest tremor, measuring 5,8 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 12:34 PM. However, shortly before and after, two other aftershocks, each measuring 4,8 on the Richter scale, were also felt. The epicenters of the earthquakes were located in the same area, approximately 51 kilometers southeast of Guatemala City, the country's capital.

Firefighters confirmed that the tremors, which were felt across most of the country, caused landslides on the highway leading to El Salvador, near the epicenter in Cuilapa Santa Rosa, hitting at least one car and killing one person.

Local media reported that a wall collapsed onto several houses, trapping a family in the rubble, but it is unclear if there are more victims.

Public buildings were evacuated in the area and classes were canceled, authorities said.

The first tremor occurred at a depth of 61 kilometers, the second at 39 kilometers, and the third at 37 kilometers.

The first tremor, measuring 4,8 on the Richter scale, was recorded shortly after noon (local time), and the third, of the same magnitude, occurred around 13:20 PM.
