"The shooter has been arrested. The area is still cordoned off. More information will be provided soon," wrote the city hall's profile on the social network.

Videos released by local media show several police cars surrounding a large commercial building in Aurora, located about 64 km west of Chicago.

Witness John Probst told CNN that he saw the shooter, a coworker, running through the industrial unit with a revolver equipped with a laser sight. Probst told the network that he saw people bleeding.

West Aurora 129 School District said on Twitter that all students in the area were being kept in "soft isolation" under the guidance of the county police chief.
