Terror also in the Netherlands.
Gunman enters shopping mall, kills 5 people and then commits suicide in the Netherlands; the incident happened just two days after the Realengo massacre in Rio de Janeiro.
247 - A man of approximately 25 years old entered a shopping mall in the city of Alphen aan den Rijn in the west of the Netherlands and opened fire on customers. The gunman killed 5 people and injured 11, four of them seriously, before killing himself.
The shooting occurred around noon, 7 a.m. Brasília time, at the Ridderhof Shopping Center, which was crowded with families and children shopping on Saturday afternoon. The man was carrying an automatic pistol and fired randomly at people nearby, then shot himself in the head with another weapon. Witnesses say all the shots were fired before the police arrived. The shooter's identity and motives have not yet been revealed. Dutch authorities have opened an investigation into the case. Currently, police are questioning witnesses who are coming forward in order to reconstruct the events.
This case in the Netherlands is very similar to the massacre at a school in Realengo, Rio de Janeiro, last Thursday, when a 24-year-old man entered a school and shot at students, then killed himself.
