247, with Sana - Syria denounced on Monday (28) the recent statements by French President Emmanuel Macron, in which he criticizes the internal political process of the Arab country. Damascus highlights the involvement of the French government with terrorist groups that tried to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad.
"What Macron said about the political process in Syria is nothing more than an attempt to wash his hands stained with the blood of Syrians," the Syrian Foreign Ministry said in a statement released on Monday.
The statement explains that "the French government offered all kinds of support to the terrorists, and its Foreign Minister described the Al-Nusra Front terrorist group as 'revolutionary,' in addition to having aborted all political initiatives aimed at finding a solution to the crisis in Syria. This undermines France's credibility, as it speaks about the Syrian political process using Western and colonial criteria that are opposed to the interests and aspirations of our country."
"Syria is not interested in establishing relations with a country that contributed to terrorist aggression and whose hands are stained with the blood of innocent Syrians," the statement said.
According to the Syrian Foreign Ministry, "Macron's statements reflect his bitterness over the defeat and failure of the anti-Syrian project."
"It would be more appropriate for the French president to dedicate his efforts to resolving the crises that have affected his country, rather than interfering in the internal affairs of others," the Foreign Ministry statement concluded.
