Senate approves Figueiredo as ambassador to the US.

President Dilma Rousseff's nomination of former Foreign Minister Luiz Alberto Figueiredo to assume the post of Brazilian ambassador to the United States was approved with 63 votes in favor, 3 against, and 1 abstention. In addition to serving as Foreign Minister, Figueiredo also served at the Brazilian embassy in Santiago, Chile, and at the Brazilian mission to the United Nations.

The Senate plenary approved President Dilma Rousseff's nomination of former Foreign Minister Luiz Alberto Figueiredo to assume the post of Brazilian ambassador to the United States. The nomination was approved with 63 votes in favor, 3 against, and 1 abstention.

Before being approved by the plenary, Figueiredo had already been questioned and approved by the Foreign Relations Committee. On that occasion, he was questioned on several subjects, for example, the promotion of trade between Brazil and the United States and the handling of the international financial crisis.

In addition to being Foreign Minister, Figueiredo also served at the Brazilian embassy in Santiago, Chile, and at the Brazilian mission to the United Nations.
