Scholz and Macron demand ceasefire in phone call with Putin, says German government.

The two European leaders called Putin after the failure of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Türkiye.

247 with Reuters - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron called Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday (10) and demanded an immediate ceasefire in the war against Ukraine. The phone call took place shortly after the failure of the meeting between the foreign ministers of Russia and Ukraine in Turkey.

The information, according to Reuters, comes from "a German government official," reports the... UOLMacron and Scholz reportedly told Putin that any solution to the war in Ukraine must be reached through negotiations. The three agreed to maintain close contact in the coming days, the official added.

The Russian invasion of Ukrainian territory has reached its 15th day. 

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that Russia reaffirmed the same demands for a truce. These are: recognition of the separatist areas of Donetsk and Lugansk as independent republics; recognition of Crimea, unilaterally annexed by Russia in 2014, as Russian territory; and a guarantee that Ukraine will not join NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) or the European Union.
