Sputnik - Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, warned on Tuesday (27) that the country will fulfill all its arms export obligations in response to insinuations from the US.

"We say with full responsibility that Russia will rigorously fulfill all its obligations to its partners in current and future projects [regarding arms sales]," Zakharova said at a briefing.

Zakharova refuted claims that Russia would be unable to guarantee the maintenance of military equipment.

The representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the United States is increasing pressure on the military and political leaders of countries that use equipment manufactured in Russia to send it to Ukraine.

"As their main argument, they [the US] promote insinuations that Russia is incapable, under the current circumstances, of guaranteeing proper maintenance [of military equipment] and deliveries of original parts necessary for repairs," Zakharova pointed out.

She admitted that there had been rare instances of delivery delays due to threats of Western sanctions that transport companies face for cooperating with Russia.

Earlier this year, former Russian Deputy Prime Minister and current head of the state space corporation Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, said that Russia accounted for about 20% of the global arms market, with a total order portfolio of around US$50 billion (R$263 billion).
