Sputnik - A genuine dialogue with the United States on global strategic stability is possible if the interlocutor proves to be a suitable partner, prepared not to cross Moscow's red lines in the security sphere.

The statements were made by Vladimir Yermakov, director of the Department of Non-Proliferation and Arms Control at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an interview with Sputnik on Wednesday (30).

“In principle, we have never rejected dialogue. At the same time, real dialogue is only possible if there is a suitable partner on the other side. For this to happen, the United States needs to prepare for a serious conversation based on truly equal principles and a willingness to respect our interests and not cross our red lines in the field of security,” Yermakov said.

Earlier, the US Chargé d'Affaires in Russia, Elizabeth Rood, told Sputnik that Washington is committed to arms control and awaits an opportunity to resume dialogue with Moscow on strategic stability, which she said was interrupted by the situation in Ukraine.
