      Russia announces US withdrawal from Syria.

      US Secretary of State John Kerry, UN envoy Lakhdar Brahimi, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov agreed at a meeting in Geneva on Friday that only a political solution can end the violence in Syria.

      MOSCOW, Sept 13 (Reuters) Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, US Secretary of State John Kerry, and UN envoy Lakhdar Brahimi agreed at a meeting in Geneva on Friday that only a political solution can end the violence in Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

      The ministry said in a statement that the three agreed to meet again in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, later this month, for further talks on holding an international peace conference for Syria.
