247 - Rahim Al-Hussaini has been designated as the new Aga Khan, a title that makes him the spiritual leader of millions of Ismaili Muslims around the world. Rahim's appointment as Aga Khan V was made in the will of his father, Karim Al-Hussaini, the Aga Khan IV, who passed away on Tuesday, February 3rd, in Portugal, surrounded by his family. This information comes from The Guardian.

The Aga Khan, a title traditionally associated with the spiritual leadership of the Ismaili community, is considered by his followers to be a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad, occupying a position of great reverence, often treated as that of a head of state. The death of Aga Khan IV marks the end of a period of leadership by his father, who exerted great influence both within the religious community and in various social and cultural development initiatives around the world.

The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and the Ismaili religious community announced the passing of Karim Al-Hussaini, highlighting his legacy as the 49th hereditary Imam. The funeral and reading of his will will take place in the coming days, followed by tributes to the life and work of the late leader.
