Sputnik - At the start of the Russian operation, Putin assured then-Israeli leader Naftali Bennett that Zelensky would not be eliminated.

Bennett said, in an interview posted on his YouTube channel, that shortly after the start of the special operation in Ukraine, Zelensky asked him to contact the Russian president. At that time, Zelensky was hiding in a bunker.

After meeting with Putin, Bennett reportedly called Zelensky, relaying the content of his conversation with Vladimir Putin to the Ukrainian leader. After learning of Putin's promise, Zelensky reportedly returned to his official office and recorded a video there.

Bennett, who acted as an intermediary between Russia and Ukraine at the start of the special operation, stated that peace negotiations were interrupted by the West.

"All my actions were coordinated down to the smallest detail with the US, Germany, and France [...] They broke off the negotiations," Bennett stated.

Bennett emphasized that, before the West interrupted negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, at least 17 draft agreements had been drawn up between the parties.

In June 2022, the cabinet of then-Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced that his coalition would be dissolved and that the country would hold new elections.
