Protests in the US are the result of partisan interests being placed above the interests of the people, says Putin.
"It seems to me that the problem lies in the fact that, in this case, the partisan interests of a group are being placed above the interests of the whole society and the people," said Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the anti-racism protests in the US.
Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that in the US, partisan interests are being prioritized over those of the American people as a whole.
"It seems to me that the problem lies in the fact that, in this case, the partisan interests of the group are being placed above the interests of the whole society and the people," Putin stated.
"I try to comment very carefully, or even not comment at all, on what is happening in the US or other countries. What happened there is a manifestation of certain deep internal crises. In fact, we have seen this for a long time. Ever since the current president came to power, when he won clearly and democratically, the defeated side has invented various stories to question his legitimacy," he emphasized.
Putin believes that the situation surrounding the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the problems the US is facing.
"What is democracy? It's the power of the people, that's right. But if the people choose the higher bodies, then these bodies, invested with the people's trust, have the right to organize the work of the executive bodies in a way that guarantees the interests of the vast majority of the country's population. Now, what do we have there? The president says, 'We must do this or that,' and the governors say, 'Go see if I'm around the corner,'" the Russian president observed.
